We discovered this phenomenon, when we watched the eyes of friends glaze over as we talk about our addiction. Most recently a conversation with Zyra about perfins, finally convinced us to go for it and publish an online Stamp Dictionary to help philatelists old and new.

As you can appreciate, this is a monumental task, but we are determined to do it as we are fed up with children playing video or computer games, leading insular lives and not expanding their minds with the history that is around them. Stamps are pieces of history and it is the duty of Philately to preserve them for future collectors to enjoy. We know that there is an enormous amount of knowledge out there and we would like you to share it with others.

How often in your life have you done something that the world can see? Would you like to show family and friends that your name is on the Internet? Perhaps you would prefer to remain anonymous, if so, that's fine - it's your choice. There is a list of contributors to the dictionary at the bottom of this page.

We offer you the opportunity to contribute to the Stamp Dictionary, which we hope will help ensure our hobby continues for generations to come. Please bombard us with additions for this project, by visiting our contact page. We have one request though keep the explanations simple.
